“Remember that a person’s name is, to that person, is the sweetest and most important sound in any language.”
– Dale Carnegie, How to Win Friends and Influence People
When we are born the name given to us becomes our tag, the thing someone uses to gain our attention. When we hear our name we turn towards the person saying it, it’s been ingrained in us so long it’s instinctual.
Studies show that a message with a person’s name in the greeting is more than 200% times likely to be opened and read. With personalization, you’re not just getting the cookie cutter message that everyone else is getting. Instead, it’s something tailored to you. It makes you feel like you stand out above the rest. But how can you use this information practically for improving your marketing?
Easy! Start using dynamic tags in your messaging. With Engage’s Smart Tags, the sky’s the limit. You have the ability to send messages and insert our Smart Tags into your message that will pull personalized information from your customer’s profile such as their name and order number.
Will send “Hi Mary, congratulations! You’ve qualified for our VIP Member discount of 25% off of your order of $100 or more. Offer expires on January 25th”

We are continually striving for ways to make your life simpler. The newest edition to our family has arrived and you are going to love it! We would like to introduce a new, robust Order Management system. In addition to it being available to our Service Professional subscribers, it will also be available as an add-on feature to other Service level packages. This feature gives you the ability to manage order notifications for your customers by letting Engage communicate with them as the status changes, increasing engagement and customer satisfaction levels, not to mention making your life simpler.
Here is how it works:
On the Order Management main page, you can select a new status for any order as it progresses through your production phases.
Using customizable pre-defined templates, the system will let you preview the message before you send to the customer. Click “It looks good” and the customer will receive both a voice and text message, in their preferred language, notifying them of the change. You can insert additional information in the message such as your contact information or hours of operation.
You have visibility on what stage an order is in, and can sort or search all orders for similar statuses.
Once an order has been picked up, delivered or completed, it will be automatically archived into your customer’s order history.
Status messages are completely customizable and you can even add your own custom statuses. Additionally in just a few clicks within your profile page, you can disable those statuses which may not be appropriate for your business.
To request for a customer to call you, visit your location or to send them a custom message unrelated to an order, simply use the Engage menu!
Simple steps to streamlining your order management process to reduce the time and effort it takes to keep your customers in the loop on the status of their orders. As an added bonus, you can even add shipment tracking information automatically for major delivery services providers to keep your customers updated on when their orders will arrive. Stop wasting time doing all of this tedious work manually and let Engage do the work for you. Contact us today to add Order Management – simplify your life!
During the last couple weeks we’ve heard from multiple people that when they receive a link in one of their Apple devices’ text messages, they aren’t able to click on it. This is happening because their mobile phones are displaying the link as plain text, meaning it’s not clickable.
This topic is different from how marketers can get Apple iOS to preview a link in their text messages.
Earlier this week we determined this issue was only affecting iPhone users running iOS, but we were unable to replicate the issue, and trust us, we tried… and tried… and tried. Tonight though after continued testing, we finally figured out why some iPhone iOS users aren’t able to click on the links in the text messages they’re receiving.
In Apple’s latest iOS versions above 10.3.2, a user is unable to click on a link in a text message if the text message happens to include a dollar sign ($) or any term related to money “dollar”, “bucks”, etc. This is apparently intentional filtering by Apple to keep people from inadvertently clicking on links that are requesting money in what could be a scam.
Now that we know what is causing users not to be able to click on links in text messages, the question is what can marketers do. After discussing this issue with our client services team tonight, we came up with a pretty good solution, that until Apple fixes this, will at least allow your users to get to wherever you’re trying to link them to.
The solution is to include something like the following text copy in your text messages with links. This text copy can be placed either after the hyperlink, or at the very end of your text message.
“Not able to click on the link? Reply RESEND”
Then when a user replies with the SMS keyword “RESEND”, you either re-send the entire text message to them, or just the link. By resending the text message to the user, the user will be able to click on the links in that text message, because they will have received a previous message from you.
We know Apple has been contacted regarding this, and we will update our readers when this issue is resolved. In the meantime, if you have any other ideas of how to work around this bug, please let us know in the comments below.
